Purple Rain

The beauty of the purple Jacaranda against an Azure Blue Jozi sky.

November in Jozi, the weather is beautifully warm, the skies are the clearest Azure Blue and the streets are lined with Purple Rain, gently falling from the hundreds of Jacarandas lining the streets of Jozi.

What better way to spend a morning, than taking a walk down the street where I live, with my granddaughter, Gabbi. She took her baby doll for a stroll, and I set out to capture the feast of purple beckoning from my vantage point in Mountain View.

The Jacarandas did not dissapoint, and I captured 150+ photos in half an hour.

I am incredibly blessed to live in Old Joburg, in a heritage home, built in 1913. My house sits high up on the North side of Observatory Ridge, affording me the most spectacular views of Sandton, Johannesburg North, and on a clear day, all the way to the Magaliesberg mountains, which is how our little suburb got it’s name, Mountain View.

Gabbi and I had the most enjoyable walk down our quiet little street, which resembles a mediterranean village street, with its stone architecture, and an abundance of Jacarandas and deep Fuschia Bougainvilleas. Here are just a few of the stunning views I captured.
